- 100% polyester houndstooth check poplin & jersey knit fabrics
- Dress has hook & loop fastener at center back, elastic back waistband
- Same-fabric belt sewn to waistline has decorative black plastic slide buckle
- Dress has princess-cut bodice w/ sweetheart neckline & decorative buttons, box-pleated skirt
- Cape is same fabric as dress, has stand-up collar and ribbon ties at front

The cape is a separate piece that ties at the front with ribbon, so yes, you can absolutely take it off. It's not attached to the dress at all.(AI Generated Answer)
