Founding Father Formalwear
Before he was singing his way through Hamilton, George Washington was kind of a big deal. At 20, he was a major in the Virginia militia, and he went on to lead the Continental Army and become the first U.S. President. Our designers cranked up the Broadway soundtrack and crafted this George Washington Costume to match, with a velvet jacket, damask vest front, lace ascot, and bicorn hat fit for a founding father.
Design & Details
A Made By Us exclusive, this costume is tailored for anyone ready to lead a revolution, or at least a really dramatic school assembly. The blue velvet jacket has a collar, cuffs, and front button bands in gold damask, plus decorative gold-tone metal buttons. Underneath, the damask vest front has woven tone-on-tone floral swirls, functional gold-tone buttons, a matching collar, and a hook-and-loop closure at the back.
The ascot has three lace-edged tiers on a neck band that fastens at the back, because nothing says "national icon" like neck ruffles. The jersey knit pants have an elastic waistband for charging across battlefields (or buffets). Faux leather boot tops slip over your own shoes with elastic under the foot and damask cuffs, and the foam-backed bicorn hat has elastic at the back for a snug fit.
Care & Fit: The fabric is on the lighter side, so a layer underneath will keep you comfortable on chilly nights. The hat takes a little shaping with your hands once it's out of the package to get that crisp bicorn look. Spot clean only.
