Sexy Hawaiian Luau Costume
Wanna know some fun facts about the Hawaiian Luau? Hope you said yes, because we’re gonna tell you anyway!
First things first, the luau as we know it today (though, for the record, celebratory feasts go way back to ancient times in Hawaiian culture) originated in 1819 with a feast thrown by King Kamehameha II. This one marked a massive change in the traditional culture of ancient Hawaiians. Before King Kamehameha’s luau, Hawaiians followed a strict code of conduct that did not allow men and women to eat together, commoners to eat with royalty, or women to eat certain foods at all. This luau not only ended these taboos forever, it also established the culinary traditions you’d see at a traditional luau today! Second, “luau” doesn’t mean “party”…though the word conjures up images of tables full of food, amazing fire and hula dances, it actually refers to a dish served at a luau, a wonderful combination of tender young taro leaves and chicken baked in coconut milk. And though luaus today are considered to be large feasts, none would compare with the luau King Kamehameha The 3rd had in 1847 which is said to have served 300 pigs (that’s a lotta pork!).
All of which is to say - if you’re in the mood to get into the aloha spirit, then this Sexy Hawaiian Luau Costume is will have you looking lovelier than a Hawaiian sunset!
